We’re a marketing software company that serves small business owners, primarily financial advisors, and insurance agents. About 40,000 small businesses use our tools to build websites and send out our content. Generally, these businesses don’t have marketing departments but are growth-minded enough to know they need to market themselves.

About the Role

FMG is seeking a highly experienced Director of Legal to join our team and lead our legal efforts in the areas of commercial contracting, privacy and security, employment law, and mergers and acquisitions.

Compensation

Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000 plus bonus, depending on experience

Primary Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Negotiating and drafting various commercial contracts, including but not limited to, customer agreements, vendor agreements, and licensing agreements
  • Advising on legal matters related to data privacy and security, including compliance with GDPR and CCPA
  • Providing legal guidance on employment-related issues, including hiring, termination, wage and hour compliance, and employee relations
  • Providing legal guidance to internal teams across the organization, including sales, marketing, product, operations, and human resources
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures related to legal and regulatory compliance, including employment-related policies and procedures
  • Staying up-to-date on legal and regulatory developments in the financial services industry and proactively advising the company on potential impacts
  • Leading the legal aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including conducting due diligence, drafting and negotiating purchase agreements, and advising on post-merger integration matters
  • Advising on equity and other compensation matters

Skills and Qualifications

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law
  • At least 8 years experience practicing law with a focus on commercial contracting and privacy and security. Experience with employment law and mergers and acquisitions considered a plus
  • Strong negotiating and drafting skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with technology companies and/or financial services companies is a plus
  • Experience with private equity and equity compensation matters is a plus

JOB SUMMARY:

This individual is responsible for representing individuals with disabilities across the U.S. at Social Security Disability hearings (most of which are via videoconference or phone)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provide representation/advocacy services on behalf of claimants across the U.S., including presenting opening and closing statements, and cross-examining medical and vocational experts
  • Fully evaluate claims for pursuit and prepare claimants for such hearings
  • Travel, as needed (and at Claimify’s expense), for occasional in-person hearings (projected 10% of overall monthly scheduled hearings; remainder are virtual)
  • Periodically draft on-the-record briefs, and other similar memos to comply with Administrative Law Judge requests
  • Answer customer questions pertaining to our services, via our contact methods within established company standards, guidelines and scripts
  • Ensure all records are controlled in a manner which ensures integrity and accessibility including scanning and uploading of documents
  • Provide accurate, valid and complete information by using the right methods/tools
  • Handle customer issues, provide appropriate solutions and alternatives within the time limits; follow up to ensure resolution
  • Keep records of customer interactions, process necessary actions and file documents
  • Interact directly with users of controlled documentation to ensure internal conformance to Claimify’s Quality Control requirements
  • Ensure accurate and timely input of database entries and implement a self-auditing system to verify one’s own work

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Have a J.D. and equivalent work experience in Social Security field (minimum of 1-3 years handling hearings)

The Opportunity
