Become a Licensed Practical Nurse in our Call Center in Glen Ellyn, IL

Job Scope: To oversee medical operations in the Transportation Review Unit and serve as a backup for the Registered Nurse. To adjudicate non-routine transportation requests which require medical expertise. Serve as a medical resource and support to the NETSPAP (Non-Emergency Transportation Standing Prior Approval Program) Call Center.

Job Responsibilities

  • Reviews and researches departmental overrides. Make recommendation to Health Care and Family Services department after request has completed
  • Determines medical necessity for ambulance transport based on the documentation provided.
  • Reviews Physician Certification Statements (PCS) and other medical documentation to determine appropriate categories of service.
  • Provides guidance and support to TRU and Call Processing Unit on requests requiring review on medical recommendations.
  • Thoroughly and accurately documents trip information to support adjudication decisions and research conducted.
  • Maintains compliance with NETSPAP policies and procedures by regularly reviewing the Operation Manual, memos, etc. and actively participating in staff meetings, training sessions, etc.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Licensed Practical Nurse – Active IL license to meet criteria under the IL Department of professional regulations.
  • Minimum of 5-years experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Excellent Internal/ external customer service
  • Exercise business telephone etiquette as outlined in the Operations and Procedure Manual
