Job Description

Blackhawk is seeking legal counsel to support its growing retail business in the United States. You would be responsible for completing commercial agreements with some of the biggest global brands while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This position is part of a global team of dedicated legal professionals, reporting to Blackhawk’s Principal Legal Counsel for US Retail. We will consider candidates to work in Blackhawk’s Portland, Maine, Fenton, Missouri or Lewisville, Texas office to support Blackhawk’s business units as they endeavor to innovate, grow and meet and exceed their business targets.

Job Responsibilities

  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations and Blackhawk policies and procedures
  • Mitigating legal risks
  • Managing external counsel from time to time
  • Keeping the Principal Legal Counsel up to date with respect to all material legal matters
  • Some travel may be required from time to time, including to the Bay Area

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the state located
  • 2-5 years as a corporate lawyer at a top law firm
  • Some experience with negotiating and drafting commercial agreements, including those related to technology-related products and services
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage projects and competing priorities, stakeholders and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Energetic self-starter with demonstrated initiative, exceptional business judgement and creativity
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal clients, external counsel and the global Legal team
  • Knowledge of, and adherence to, legal ethical rules, guidelines and compliance requirements
  • Ability to analyze complex issues, propose effective solutions and understand and apply vision and direction
